The National Institute for Economic Research (INCE) of the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova is pleased to announce the 20th Jubilee edition of the International Scientific-Practical Conference “Economic Growth in the Face of Global Challenges.” The 2026 conference is organised in a special anniversary context, marking 80 years since the establishment of INCE, under the motto “INCE – 80 years of tradition in research, excellence and impact.”
The conference represents an established scientific platform that brings together researchers, academics, policy experts and practitioners to discuss key economic and socio-economic transformations in a rapidly changing global environment. Particular attention is given to issues related to economic growth, resilience of national economies, sustainable development, demographic change, labour market dynamics and public policy responses to global challenges.
By marking two decades of international scientific dialogue and eight decades of institutional research activity, the jubilee edition aims to strengthen academic cooperation, promote interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and contribute to the development of evidence-based solutions for contemporary economic challenges.
This session aims to examine the transformative impact of artificial intelligence, digitalization, and Big Data on the evolving landscape of contemporary scientific research. Particular attention is given to incorporating emerging digital tools into knowledge production, using advanced methods for data analysis and forecasting, and expanding data-driven inquiry across diverse scientific domains. Contributions are encouraged that address the theoretical, methodological, and practical implications of these developments, including challenges related to data quality, governance, transparency, reproducibility, and ethical responsibility in research. Through an interdisciplinary perspective, the session seeks to promote critical debate on the opportunities, limitations, and future trajectories of AI-supported scientific inquiry.
This session aims to discuss the factors and mechanisms that determine the competitiveness and resilience of economies in the context of contemporary global transformations. Within the framework of the session, theoretical and empirical studies on the interrelationships among entrepreneurship, innovation, competitiveness, and economic resilience at the levels of enterprises, industries, regions, and national economies are welcome. Particular attention may be given to issues of economic development, the institutional environment, and entrepreneurial ecosystems, as well as to the role of entrepreneurial activity and innovation processes in strengthening the economy’s resilience and competitiveness.
The transition toward more sustainable economic systems requires stronger integration between financial mechanisms and circular economic practices. This session examines the interplay between finance and the circular economy as key drivers of sustainable development amid global environmental, economic, and social challenges. Contributions may address theoretical perspectives, empirical analyses or policy frameworks related to sustainable finance, circular business models, investment strategies and regulatory initiatives that support the transition toward more resilient and resource-efficient economies.
This session focuses on exploring innovative and sustainable pathways that support the modernization of agriculture and the long-term development of rural areas. It brings together research and practical experiences related to sustainable farming practices, efficient use of natural resources, technological innovation, climate-resilient agricultural systems, and policies that promote inclusive rural growth. Authors are encouraged to address interdisciplinary perspectives on how modern technologies, knowledge transfer, and sustainable management strategies can enhance agricultural productivity while protecting the environment and improving the socio-economic well-being of rural communities.
Demographic change is reshaping societies across the world, as declining birth rates, population ageing, and migration alter economic and social structures. These trends pose significant challenges for labour markets, public services, and long-term development. At the same time, they create opportunities to rethink policies, institutions, and community strategies. This session explores how resilience, innovation, and social transformation can help societies adapt to population change. It brings together diverse perspectives to discuss practical responses and forward-looking solutions.
This session focuses on research and policy approaches that promote well-being, social inclusion and the reduction of social inequalities in contemporary societies. It brings studies addressing social protection systems, inclusive public policies, and institutional mechanisms that improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups, including children, youth, the elderly, and disadvantaged communities. Authors are encouraged to research interdisciplinary perspectives on how innovative social policies, effective governance, and evidence-based interventions can strengthen social cohesion, expand equal opportunities and support inclusive and sustainable social development.
As part of the 2026 edition, the National Institute for Economic Research will organise, under the auspices of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalisation of the Republic of Moldova, a practical session entitled “Public Policies for the Development of Entrepreneurship and SMEs.” The session aims to strengthen the role of economic research in supporting public policy-making by promoting interdisciplinary dialogue, developing solutions to current economic challenges, and advancing European integration through alignment with international best practices.
